I sharpened pretty much everything I own with this! It works great on steak knives, kitchen knives, and even my pocket knives. I had two handheld sharpeners before, and they’re both in the trash now. Disagree with people who complain about this unit sliding around. Keep it clean, moe! And keep a hand on it! Also, while the motor DOES bog a bit, it won’t choke unless you jam the knife into the slot. Let the speed do the work, not the pressure. Keep the blade moving. This made a veteran chef’s knife razor sharp as well as a more recent sharp knife even sharper. Haven’t tried it on scissors, serrateds, ceramics nor on esoteric stuff like hedge clippers and my hatchet. For now, it passes just fine.

Ordered this because I wanted to start maintaining my own knives but didn’t want to spend too much right away. It works surprisingly well! Knives that used to struggle through vegetables are now sharp enough to feel almost new again. I was a little skeptical because of the price, but it does a really solid job.
